Briefing: This part is the most isolated and hence least visited region amongst the areas that we cover. Touring Chimpanzees in these parks, one needs to take a flight from Dar es Salaam to Kigomba town, on the shores of Lake Tanganyika before taking a boat that will sail him to either Gombe Stream of Mahale Mountains national parks.

On landing at Kigom airport, our guide will receive you and escort you to Kibirizi habour where the boat awaits for you. You will then depart from the port and head to the respective park by a private speed boat.

Depending with your time frame, you can spend as long time as possible in the parks. To meet Chimpanzee a search through the rain forest is needed; the search may involve trekking and going through valleys.

Upon finding Chimpanzee, the maximum allowed time of staying with Chimpanzees in one hour; these human’s closest relatives are prone to airborne diseases that can be transmitted from human to them. You are also obliged to wear mask throughout the time to avoid the transmission of diseases.

We advise clients to spend at least three days in the parks to better study the Chimpanzees.

Air Tanzania is the only means of transport operating daily flights between Dar es Salaam and Kigoma.
