Day Trip: Mount Kilimanjaro

Introduction

It is undoubtedly impossible to hike the continent’s highest mountain to the its highest peak in a day. But, there is a way for people with tight schedules and physical limitations to taste the giant mountain by making a day hike. The starting point can either be Arusha or Moshi towns.

Trip: Hotel – Mandara hut – Hotel

The adventure starts with an early pick-up from your lodge and drive to Marangu gate, 1600 metres above mean sea level, where you will obtain Kilimanjaro National Park admission permit. The ascent towards Mandara hut, 2700 meters above mean sea level, is approximately four hours. On reaching Mandara hut, you will take your lunch from the summit’s viewing point. The visibility of the Uhuru peak, Africa’s highest peak is subject to weather; it is difficult to see Africa’s highest peak when it is cloudy.

Along the way, black and white colobus monkeys, Colobus guereza and a variety of bird species are easily spotted in the thick forest.

Descending is easy and it should take between two to three hours. The vehicle will be waiting the park’s entry point, ready to drive you back to your hotel.

Prices

As in all packages, the trekking price is determined by the group size; the larger the group size, the lower the price. Based on the group of two people our prices are 180$ per adult and 120$ per 7 – 14 years old child.
